Hardy Pampas Grass, Ravenna Grass, Erianthus ravennae
This grass did not yet reach its full height or shape after one year. A few flower spikes were present, but we are expecting a bigger show next summer. This is the hardy equivalent to true Pampas Grass (Cortaderia selloana) for Kansas. It is a popular choice for a large, showy ornamental grass that provides winter interest.
These plants took off in their second year, with extremely vigorous growth and very tall and prolific flower spikes.
